I not only included this front door in the Door Print because of its aesthetics, but also because of the work that goes on behind it.
This is the front door of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), in Spitalfield's, London.
I am a member of the SPAB, and I had a memorable day photographing the interior last year.
Founded by William Morris and other members of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood, the SPAB has been campaigning for our historic buildings for over 140 years.
The door is mostly original - dating approximately to the mid C18th. It has raised and fielded panels to the upper half and carved console brackets to the canopy.
The SPAB has a fascinating guide to the history of the building.
